HELPFUL STORAGE HINTS
You can use these storage hints to estimate how big of a storage unit you'll need. If, after you've looked this over and you're still not sure, give us a list of your belongings, and we'll recommend a space that's just the right size.
The following tips may enable you to rent a smaller, less expensive unit than you thought possible:1. Put valuables and hard to replace items in the very back of the unit. 2. Place heavy furniture and appliances in front of valuables. Most couches can be stored on end. 3. Protect furniture and mattresses with covers and pads. Place furniture and boxes on pallets to allow air to circulate. 4. Refrigerators and freezers should be thoroughly dry and doors left slightly ajar. 5. Use free-standing shelves to maximize storage space. 6. Store things inside of appliances and drawers. 7. Store tables on their sides with legs removed and wrapped. 8. Wrap mirrors and pictures with paper pads or use special mirror boxes for extra protection. Store on end, never flat. 9. Clothing, curtains and drapes should be clean and stored on hangers in wardrobe style boxes. 10. Store clearly labeled boxes sealed tightly with packing tape. Boxes will stack without collapsing if you fill all empty spaces with crumpled paper, and if you stack like-sized boxes together with the heavier ones on the bottom. 11. If possible, leave a center isle for easy access, and put all items you use most often near the front. 12. Garden equipment should have their handles folded up or removed and all gas completely drained. |
